Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber to Present Martz Trailways the “I believe” Award at the Annual Business Awards Luncheon on June 16 - (05/18/2010)

     Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber to Present Martz Trailways the “I believe” Award at the Annual Business Awards Luncheon on June 16

     Wilkes-Barre, PA. (May 18, 2010) – Martz Trailways will be presented with the “I Believe” Award at the Chamber’s Annual Business Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16 at the Best Western Genetti Hotel and Conference Center in Downtown Wilkes-Barre.

     This is the sixth year the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce will present the “I Believe” Award, sponsored by First Liberty Bank & Trust, which recognizes commitment to Downtown Wilkes-Barre and unwavering belief in its future. Martz Trailways exemplifies the essence of this award, having served the Downtown Wilkes-Barre area for over 100 years.

     Martz Trailways was started in 1908 by Frank Martz, Sr. in the town of Plymouth, Pennsylvania. He bought and supervised the construction of a White 1912 bus which is still proudly displayed at parades and special occasions in Pennsylvania and at times nationally. It is the oldest existing antique bus in the country and has won several awards at antique shows.

     Through acquisitions and new start ups, the corporation now owns and operates coach companies, a travel agency, and bus sales and repair operations in the following states and nation’s capital: Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Virginia, and Florida.

     All of the companies combined operate service from Wilkes-Barre, PA, Scranton, PA, New York City, NY, Atlantic City, NJ, Washington, D.C., Richmond, VA, St. Petersburg, FL, and other points throughout the United States and Canada.
